Sariska Bara Liwari Safari-A Landscape that Breathes Life
Get ready for a thrilling ride deep into the rugged heart of Rajasthan’s wilderness. Tucked away near Alwar City Railway Station.
Bara Liwari is an emerging wildlife safari zone known for raw terrain, elusive leopards, and dry deciduous forests that hold secrets of the wild. It’s not just a safari — it’s an adventure across rocky trails, whispering trees, and ancient temples guarded by nature.
Dry Deciduous Jungle – A Landscape that Breathes Life
Bara Liwari is covered with classic dry deciduous flora, typical of the Aravalli range. This means:
- Teak, Dhok (Anogeissus pendula), Tendu, and Ber trees dominate the landscape
- You’ll also spot hardy shrubs, thorny bushes, and scattered Palash (Flame of the forest) during spring.
- Most trees shed their leaves during summer, making it easier to spot wildlife like Tigers, hyenas, and foxes blending with the golden-brown backdrop.
- This ecosystem is perfect for predators like the Tiger, as the dry forest provides both camouflage and open visibility for surprise hunting.
- Dense green cover, waterfalls, and monsoon streams appear along the route
- Jungle temples and wildlife sightings make it spiritual + wild
The Safari Experience – Bumpy, Wild & Real
The ride in Bara Liwari is not smooth — and that’s the thrill!
The gypsy navigates narrow, uneven forest trails
Expect a jig-jag (zigzag) journey through rocky patches, dried nullahs (streams), and uphill climbs
No concrete roads here — pure wilderness
This is not a luxury ride. It’s a real jungle track – raw, shaky, and adrenaline-pumping.

The Tigers of Bara Liwari – Legacy of the Royals of Sariska Buffer
Far from the bustling core zones of Sariska, the Bara Liwari buffer zone today holds a proud and growing tiger population — and it all started with two legends.
ST-18 – The Beast MaleKnown for his massive build and commanding presence, ST-18 was one of the most dominant males of Sariska.
Around 6–7 years ago, he moved out of the core zones and established his territory in the rugged terrains of Bara Liwari. Bold, powerful, and fearless, ST-18 adapted quickly to this dry deciduous jungle, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Sariska’s buffer area.

Around the same time, Tigress ST-19 also moved into this part of the forest, becoming the first breeding female in the Bara Liwari zone. Known for her stealth and adaptability, she made the scrubby hills and thick ravines her domain — and raised several cubs under the cover of this wild buffer.
A Thriving Bloodline – 2025 UpdateFast forward to 2025, and every tiger in the Bara Liwari region can be traced back to this legendary pair. Their successful mating and cub-raising efforts led to a natural
expansion of the population in the northern buffer.
Current Tiger Count (as of 2025): 8 individuals, All of them are either offspring or descendants of ST-18 and ST-19.
These tigers have adapted to a more open, rocky terrain — often seen near:- ✅ Natural waterholes
- ✅ Rocky outcrops and valleys of Bara Liwari
- ✅ Ancient temple ruins that provide shade and cover
Bara Liwari Safari – Hidden Monsoon Gem of Sariska (Open in July–Sept)
When the core zones of Sariska remain closed for monsoon rest, there’s one untamed wilderness that stays open — Bara Liwari Safari, the secret jewel of the northern buffer zone.
