Sariska Tiger Reserve spreads across roughly 1,213 sq km of the Aravalli hills in Alwar district — about 881 sq km of core forest and 332 sq km of buffer. Dry deciduous forest, rocky ridges, old temples and stepwells sit alongside tigers, leopards, hyena, sambar, nilgai and more than 250 recorded bird species.
Sariska is also one of India's tiger reintroduction stories: tigers were brought back to the reserve from Ranthambhore starting in 2008, and the population has been rebuilding since.
Two distinct routes, both roughly three hours, both dependent on Forest Department permits.
A shared gypsy safari through the Bara Liwari buffer tract - open scrub, water points and good chances of sambar, nilgai, jackal and a long list of birds.
The Bala Quila route climbs the forested ridge below Alwar's hill fort - a quieter drive known for leopard movement, peafowl and sweeping views over the city.
